Naming & Adoption Ceremonies Across Yorkshire & the North East

Whether you’re welcoming a new baby, celebrating an adoption, honouring a name or gender change, or bringing your family together in a new chapter, a naming ceremony is a way to say this matters and provides an opportunity to pause, gather your people, and create something meaningful together.

There are no legalities, no restrictions and no set format. Just a ceremony created around your family, your values, and the way you want to mark this moment. It can take place wherever feels right: at home, outdoors, or in a space that means something to you.

Many families choose a naming or adoption ceremony as a non-religious alternative to a christening but it can be so much more than that. It’s an opportunity to create something that feels personal, inclusive, and true to your family, without expectations or traditions that don’t quite fit. With my help and guidance you can shape a ceremony that reflects your hopes, promises and values.

What's included:

Includes ceremony day mileage within a 60 mile radius of Great Ayton, North Yorkshire.
Additional mileage charged at 0.55p per mile.
For venues more than three hours from Great Ayton, North Yorkshire, please note an accommodation fee will be requested. International venues will require an ‘away from home’ per-day fee.

50% non-refundable deposit payable to secure the date, and for me to commence work on your ceremony. Balance due weeks before the ceremony day. Upon receipt of the balance, your script will be sent through for approval.

• Unlimited contact via calls, emails, virtual catch ups (or face to face if you're local to Great Ayton, North Yorkshire).

• In-depth questionnaires to explore your story, family and relationships.

• Creating and designing the ceremony structure.

• Writing a fully personalised ceremony tailored to you.

• Rehearsing the script so it flows seamlessly and naturally on the day. This means I keep maximum eye contact with you and your guests, and don’t sound like I’m reading.

• Officiating the ceremony. I will arrive at your venue about 1 hour beforehand to set up the sound gear, do a sound check, liaise with other suppliers.

• Suggestions for ways to Involve siblings and other family members

• The inclusion of unlimited readings and rituals (you are responsible for the purchase of any ritual items).

• One to one support with writing your personal promises as parents and guideparents (as much or as little as you’d like).

• Guidance and inspiration on readings, rituals, and symbolic elements.

• A beautifully presented printed keepsake of your ceremony script and certificate.
